Neuver Maritime History

A legacy of over 70 years of innovation and expertise, tracing its roots back to 1953, with a rich history including legendary steering gear brands like Tenfjord Steering Gears and Frydenbø Industri.

For over 70 years, our manuvering solutions have guided ships safely across the world’s oceans.

What began in 1953 with the pioneering work of Tenfjord Steering Gears, Frydenbø Industri and Hareid rudders, setting new standards for maneuverability and reliability at sea.

As demand grew, these innovations were brought together under Ulstein, which strengthened and refined the technology before being acquired by Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine in 1999. The transition to Kongsberg Maritime in 2019 marked another chapter, ensuring that these trusted solutions continued to evolve while maintaining their reputation for safety and performance.

Now, in 2025, a new era begins. With Norvestor’s acquisition of Kongsberg Maritime’s steering gear and rudder business, Neuver Maritime emerges—not as a “new company”, but as a continuation of everything that has made these solutions trusted by shipowners worldwide.

While our name has changed, our expertise, quality, and commitment remain the same. With thousands of vessels relying on our products, we move forward with the same trusted technology, the same skilled people, and the same dedication to safe and efficient maneuvering at sea.
